"Not needed" does not mean "easy".

It means no certificate gates the door. Competition is intense, early roles are often unpaid or part-time, and who you know matters. The best response is to create evidence quickly. Pick a route, produce something real, and ask people in the job to look at it.

Matchday volunteering, welfare, secretary, social media or committee roles at a local club. Clubs are short of people and give responsibility quickly.

Coach a grassroots or youth team
Take charge of a local team, even with a small group. Real sessions and match days are the most credible evidence you can coach.

Build a scouting-report portfolio
Watch live matches or video, write structured player reports and publish a sample. A clear portfolio is the main thing hiring managers ask scouts for.

Build a public football data portfolio
Use open and public football data to produce analysis, models and visualisations that you can show. A well-explained project proves skill without any certificate.

Consistent public work, whether writing, video, audio or data, builds an audience and a portfolio at the same time.
